Kitchen Makeover using Paper Illusions
posted on May 29th, 2008 ·
“We used the paper we bought from you to redo our kitchen walls (put up over primed wallpaper that wouldn’t come off). We put a few coats of satin polycrylic over the top to protect it from spills. I took some photographs during the process for the heck of it… We’re very happy with the results, and glad to be rid of the plaid!”

Made in USA vs Made in Canada
posted on April 28th, 2008 ·
PaperIllusion™ by Village was originally manufactured in the United States and distributed by F. Schumacher & Co.. In mid-2006 the product switched hands and Blue Mountain Wallcoverings started distributing the product out of Canada. They distributed whatever was left of the old stock, and began to manufacture the product in their Canadian facility as stock for each color/pattern was depleted.
It is my personal opinion that the original version was superior to the newer version. While the new version is still great compared to other wallpaper options, knowing what the original was like (for example, the Script Pearl & Cream was absolutely stunning), it’s tough to get as excited about the remake.
There are currently only two FSC original colors/patterns being distributed from Blue Mountain’s warehouses: Crepe Bronze and Roman Green. While there is still old stock floating around from FSC of the other colors, finding it may require a little detective work.
Here’s how to identify which is the old & which is the new… (more…)

Roman Champagne Gets New Look
posted on April 1st, 2008 ·
BUYER BEWARE: Roman Champagne has undergone a drastic transformation since the manufacturing of PaperIllusion™ has switched hands. See images below…
These two different versions do not match at all.
OLD VERSION (Made by F. Schumacher & Co.)
NEW VERSION (Made by Blue Mountain Wallcoverings)
(I apologize for the darkness of the images, but it’s the difference in pattern I was trying to demonstrate. Keep in mind though, the color is different as well.)
If you are trying to match the Roman Champagne with a previous purchase, please be aware there is a really good chance you will no longer find the original version of this color in places that do a high volume of Paper Illusions sales. The new version is the only one being distributed by Blue Mountain Wallcoverings (the exclusive supplier/distributor of PaperIllusion™) at this time.
In order to find the older version, it is recommended you search stores that may have some old stock left on their shelves. If any retailer needs to “special order” this product to fill your order, then you will get the new version.
MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS
I have to tell you, when this change was brought to my attention (more…)

Manufactured Home Finds Decorating Fix
posted on March 5th, 2008 ·
“I live in a 1978 manufactured home so you know most or all of the walls were the dark paneling…

“…I decided to do the bathroom. … It’s really hard to believe that it’s the same room. I love it!…

BATHROOM SINK (Hearthstone Fresco Green)
“…In Nov 07 I decided that I was going to tackle the living room & family room. I was tired of being “in the dark”. I washed, primed & painted the paneling in an off white. I had been looking at the PI off and on for a few weeks but just couldn’t make a decision. I decided that AFTER painting one of the walls I wanted to redo it using the PI. I used Hearthstone Cream & Bone- and then another wall and another…

“…My next project is going to be either the spare bedroom or the master bath- I have a new addiction — PI. I have told the gals at work about this and I am taking in a piece of primed plywood some PI and doing a crash course at work.
