COUNTERTOP AFTER PAPER ILLUSIONS

Hard to believe it’s wallpaper, huh. Paper Illusions is amazing stuff and yes, you can do it, too! Grab a copy of The Paper Illusions Guide and see how quickly and easily you can transform your bathroom counter (and other surfaces, too)…without spending a fortune.

Miracle paper is what I call it! So easy, you can do it too.
So this is what I did:
prime counter with Kiltz paint
let dry about 1 1/2 hours
tear paper to your liking (don’t be scared, lol) dip in warm water and place until counter is fully covered.
Let paper dry completely.
I chose to use clear high gloss polyurethane the (kind that doesnt yellow) to give it a litle kick. 4 coats. To make it BEAM!
The following evening I started to accessorize.
Who knew?
Thank you Carrie for all your help you are the best!

wow!!! Fantastic! Can’t tell the difference between paper and actual marble. Personally, this project makes some real granite top counters look pretty bad. Amazing! Absolutely incredible!

Very original! You just brought the recession closer to an end by lowering the cost of countertops across the country. So granite looking, thanks for sharing with us!

I want to do my kitchen countertops and my (2) bathroom vanities. How did you get around the rounded edges of the sink ? Did you lift it up and then place back down? And how did you go around the edges of the counter?

Sherri,
The answer to your question is quite simpe. No you do not have to raise your sink! Tear your paper into small strips, place right up to your sink
as you work your way all around then just fill in missing spots to your desire. I used the straight edges of the paper for the straight edges of my counter top. It’s all about overlapping! It’s like coloring inside the lines only with paper. I hope this helps you.

There are some sinks where you can lift up (this one happened to be all one piece). If you can lift it out, I would recommend that and then apply the paper up to the edge of the sink cutout. It doesn’t have to be perfect, since when you lower the sink basin back down, it will hide the edges of the paper leaving a nice clean edge around the sink.

Love the look of the completed counter top. Just wondering what you did with the actual sink part since it appears to be all one piece in the before picture. Also, I love the color you picked. Which one is it?

Hi Christa, I have a picture from Judy where she put the paper inside the sink. I’m in the middle of writing a post about that and will feature the picture there. I’ll post the link here once it is posted. Thanks for asking.

Please let me know how countertop cleaners affect the sealer or wallpaper on the countertops. Thanks:)
