Matching Dye Lots of PaperIllusion

October 26th, 2007 · 5 Comments ·

Unlike regular wallpaper, PaperIllusion™ does not have run or dye lot numbers ascribed to it. While it is manufactured in large batches, it is not identified by each batch. I’m guessing the idea is you don’t need to worry about trying to match one roll to the next. Since there are so many color/shade variations within each pattern, it wouldn’t be that noticeable if you had rolls from two different batches.

Personally I think this is a problem and wish it would be corrected.

In 2006 the paper started being manufactured by a different company. While the company kept the same pattern number and color name, the printing was noticeably different on several colors…specifically the ScriptIllusion colors (Tuscan Red, Burnished Gold & Cobalt Blue). I’m not sure if it was the paper itself or the inks/colors used, but the older version was much brighter.

This caused some problems for those who were trying to match this color from a previous purchase (prior to 2007). Unless you can find some old stock lying around, the older (brighter) version is technically “discontinued”. Only the newer version is available now.

I agree it is a problem. I’m a fan of the Champagne, and unfortunately, I have two very different shades. I started a project, thinking that I indeed had enough, and wouldn’t ‘cha know it, I didn’t. Now I’m in the process of having to remove 3/4 of paper off of my living room ceiling, because the newer Champagne has too much pink in it, and the older version and the newer version, just don’t mix. I’m not happy because now I’ve lost a whole lot of paper — at least 2 rolls worth — that I’m having to remove! That’s money wasted!

I too had this problem with the cream/bone color. I had done my kitchen and entry way in 2006, we had to have some work done this year on the kitchen and when I went to fix some areas the colors were different. So I too had to pull down the old and replace it with the new in my kitchen, however, I prefer the new color as it was a little darker. I also was able to recycle the paper I took off of my kitchen and fix the areas in my entry way in order to avoid having to replace all of that as well. I have found that if you are able to remove the paper it can be reused, therefore, I was able to recycle a lot of it.

I am currently having a similar problem. I bought several rolls of bone/cream at Lowes in East Amherst, N.Y - it worked great ! I needed more but they were out so I want to a Lowes in Orchard Park, Ny and bought more - this bunch has a lot number and it doesn’t stick to the walls properly - it bunches and doesn’t have the same amount of glue as the first patch. Lowes will take it back but I need more now!!!!!!!!!!! I need to have this project done by Sunday. Where in wester new york can I get more? I have been searching on line all night. I love the first product but would have never used it if I had bought the second batch first. I think you have a defective batch on the market here at Lowes. It should be pulled of the shelves if people use that they will not like your paper and it really is nice. Please help me find some tommorrow. PLEASE NOTE BOTH THE LABELS SAY MADE IN CANADA.

We have several cases of the old “Made in USA” version of the Script Tuscan Red 5812295. If you are in need of this, be sure to note it in the comments when placing your order.
