Here’s a quick paper craft for you…decorative gift tags. Add a personal touch to your next gift-giving event with these faux-finish cards. They’re quick, easy and affordable to make…great for kids to do!
MATERIALS NEEDED
- Scraps of Paper Illusions wallpaper, your choice
- Card Stock, white or any color coordinating with your choice of PaperIllusion®
- Bowl w/warm water
- Terry-cloth towel/washcloth or Paper Towel
- Hole Punch
- Ribbon or decorative cord
- Scissors or paper cutter (Decorative Edged, optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Tear the PaperIllusion® into irregular pieces.
- Dip each piece into water; don’t soak…just get it wet, and then apply it to the card stock, blot gently with a terry cloth or paper towel to remove excess water.
- Apply each piece over another piece, slightly overlapping the edge of the previous piece, until the page is covered.
- Set aside to dry completely.
- When dry, using a paper cutter or scissors (decorative edged scissors, if you like), cut the paper into whatever shape you like with a 2″ diameter. (i.e. squares, rectangles, diamonds, triangles, circles, stars, etc.)
- Punch a hole about 1/8 – 1/4″ from the edge of each shape.
- Insert a cut piece of ribbon/cord (about 7″ long) through each hole and secure it by tying the ends together creating a loop.
- To flatten the cards, if necessary, place them under a stack of books.
NOTE: The paper will bow as it dries, that’s okay…it can be flattened later.
TIP: Do not attempt to cut the paper until it is dry or else the PaperIllusion® will slide out of place.
SUGGESTIONS
You can use samples of PaperIllusion if you’ve already purchased a sample pack. Also, consider choosing suitable shapes for each holiday or special event. Stars, snowmen, Christmas trees, angels, hearts, pumpkins, four-leaf clovers, flowers, butterflies, etc.
Have fun papering it! ![]()
