Are you overlap-happy? This post’s for you.
While Paper Illusion wallpaper is so much better to use than regular wallpaper because there’s no waste…no need to try and match up the pattern. The downside for those ‘overlap-happy” people is that you can get really carried away if you’re not paying attention.
You need to realize the more overlapping you do when applying the paper illusion, the more product you are using up. If you want to conserve the amount of product you use on your project, be mindful of how much and how often you overlap.
In other words, overlap big pieces over big gaps, and use smaller pieces for the itty bitty gaps. It’s so easy to get lost in the fun of just tearing pieces, dipping it in water and applying it that you can forget that even though you measured to see how much you needed, you can run out pretty quickly if you’re not paying attention.
Another way to conserve your paper is to use the torn pieces that have a straight edge along the ceiling and floors first. Then, fill in the middle with the torn pieces that have been torn on all sides.
Hope that helps…have fun papering it!

P.S. If you have a tip to share, just share away below. Thanks!

Oh Carrie, I am so glad there are other people to talk to about this amazing product. I found it in a little wallpaper store here in Bartlett, Kay’s Wallpaper, and first I bought the Granite color and I gave myself new kitchen countertops in one day for less than $50.00. I applied all 4 coats of the clear polyurethane that it suggested and it is holding up beautifully. I did it one day while my husband was at work, with no warning, and when he came home he was shocked. He asked where did we get the money for you to get marble countertops? I just grinned and told him I did it all by myself in just one day and it only cost about $48.00. He was amazed that it looked so real, he has told everyone he knows, even his mom (kudos for me) and all the guys at work are now telling their wives what I did and how easy it was to do and how authentic it looks. PaperIllusions has really come up with a terrific product. I have done about 6 more projects with it so far and have a few more in mind when I can get the time. I’m just going crazy for this product. I could talk all night about the other things I’ve done, but I don’t want to wear out my welcome on the first day. If you can think it, you can do it with PaperIllusions. Why has it taken wallpaper companies so long to come up with something this great and easy for us to use. They are going to make a fortune off this product because I’ve definately gone crazy with it and now all my friends are asking how did I do these projects in such short time. I’m glad to be a part of your blog, it’s going to be a busy one once everyone gets at least 1 roll of it and sees what it can do. I’ll gladly write back with any other comments if you’d like, so now this Blog is officially KICKED OFF and GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Melly, it is wonderful to find other people who love this product as much as I do. And to hear what others are doing with it is extremely inspiring. I look forward to hearing more from you!

Here’s another fun thing I did with Paper Illusions. You know those old ugly brown small refrigerators, some are 2′ tall, 3′tall or 4′? No matter how ugly or beat up and scratched the ones I found were, I covered them in Paper Illusions. I did the 4′ tall one in Bubblegum for my grandkids playroom so they can stock it with their drinks and puddings and snacks. My oldest granddaughter, Skye, is 7 and ask for her wall in the playroom to be Bubblegum, so when I covered their refrigerator entirely in Bubblegum color, it matches the wall and just kind of disappears when you look around the room. All my other grandkids wanted a ‘color’ painted and using PaperIllusions is faster, easier and much more fun than painting a wall, boring…………. I’m still ripping and tearing so I’ll write again with my next project, it turned out awesome, everyone thinks I had a professional come in and do it for me. Not when it’s this easy, I can tackle anything…..or at least try! Melanie
