Paper It Fun!

Paper Illusion is most popular for easily creating a faux finish on walls, but more and more people are grasping the fact that this wallpaper is not just for walls.

About a year ago, I received the following email from Wendy Lueder…

Dear Carrie,

My mother gave me an old coffee table that looks old. I got on the net to find out how to “faux marbleize” it and found your wonderful website. I ordered a mini-roll of crepe bronze and only need about 3 more square feet to finish the project. It looks WONDERFUL, and it’ so easy. Would it be possible to purchase 3 or 4 (just in case) 8.5 x 11 sheets? Thanks so much for your time, Wendy…

P.S. The Crepe Illusion bronze has more touches of green in it than it looks on the web. Did I get the correct product?

Before I had the chance to respond, she wrote again…

When I wrote to you before the paper wasn’t dry. Now that it’s dry the green tones I earlier saw have greatly diminished. I thought it looked fantastic wet, but now that it’s dry, the coffee table is incredible. Just fantastic. Thanks!

I wrote her back answering her questions and this was her response…

…Now that I’ve seen how well it looks I was thinking of doing a large painting frame that will be above the sofa that the coffee table sits in front (of). …Having the frame and the table match seems wonderful in my mind’s eye. All my room colors are cream, ivory and gold tones. The present painting frame is gray. Goes with NOTHING. This would be the perfect way to draw it all in…

Like I said, that was about a year ago. I just followed up with her this morning to see how the coffee table held up and if she ever did the picture frame as well, and this is what she wrote back…

Hey Carrie,

Did I ever complete the project and have gotten so many compliments on the two pieces you won’t believe. When I recovered the coffee table the apartment was empty as we were gutting it for a redo. Since I couldn’t hurt anything anyway spray painting, I covered the finished coffee table with about four layers of clear acrylic lacquer. We put our feet up on it while reading on the sofa and it’s held up perfectly for almost a year now. The matching painting frame is perfect. I’ll take a photo right now and attach it (pictured above). All the best to you and happy mother’s day to you too.

The mini-roll she referred to is something that is only offered at Wallpaper Illusions. They are partial rolls cut for the convenience of those who need just a little bit (13 square feet) and are not available anywhere else. These work great for small projects like these.
